My wife and I just got back from our 2026 trip to Hedo, and this is not going to be a polished resort travel review. In this Hedonism II review, we are going to focus on our real experience and what you can actually expect when you get there. The good, the intense, and the stuff that can catch you off guard if you are not ready for it.
Hedonism II is an all-inclusive resort in Negril, Jamaica, built around the swinger lifestyle. This is not a soft or controlled environment. It is a full-immersion setting where everything moves faster, people are more direct, and opportunities for swinger sexual fun are everywhere.
If you are already in the lifestyle, this place can feel like a cheat code. If you are new, it can feel like jumping into the deep end, but it can also be a great starting point if you approach it the right way.

Our Overall Hedonism II Experience
Hedonism II is one of those places that really only makes sense if you are going for the swinger lifestyle fun. If you are an active swinger couple, this is easily one of the most fun stays you can have anywhere. We had more swinger action in one week at Hedo than we would normally see in months back home.
After multiple trips to Hedo and other swinger resorts, it is a place we keep coming back to. As part of this Hedonism review, this is one of the biggest things to understand going in.
That said, you need to understand what you are getting on the resort side.
Compared to most vanilla all-inclusive resorts, Hedo does feel a little dated, especially when it comes to the rooms. They are clean and functional, but you are not walking into luxury. If you are expecting a modern high-end Caribbean resort, this is not that.
Where it does hold up well is the food. The meals were on par with what you would expect from most all-inclusive resorts, and we never felt like we were settling or struggling to find something decent to eat.
The staff is another highlight. They were consistently friendly, engaged, and clearly used to the unique environment. You can tell they take pride in keeping things running smoothly. Considering everything they went through with the hurricane, they have done a really solid job getting the resort back together and fully operational.
The beach is genuinely beautiful. Soft sand, clear water, and plenty of space to relax. The rest of the resort grounds are a bit more plain. It is not a visually impressive property outside of the beach area, and you are not going to find a ton of extra activities or off-resort options nearby.
But honestly, that part barely matters.
Most people are not coming to Hedonism II for excursions or sightseeing. They are there for what happens inside the resort, and that is where this place separates itself from most places.
At its core, Hedo is a clothing-optional swinger resort. There are areas where nudity is required, and other areas where you can or need to be dressed. The crowd is overwhelmingly made up of swingers, so during your stay, you are going to see plenty of nudity and a lot of open sexual activity.
If that open swinger energy is what you are looking for in a resort, this is a place that you need to experience at least once. If you are not comfortable with that level of openness, this probably is not the right resort for you.
Hedonism II sex scene explained
One of the biggest questions people have about Hedonism II is how the sex scene actually works. Is it nonstop chaos, or do you have to work for it like at a club?
The truth is, it sits somewhere in the middle, but it is a lot more sexually active and accessible than most places. As we will talk about later, there is a natural rhythm to the day that most people fall into that breaks things up so it does not feel nonstop or overwhelming.
During our stay, almost all of the swinger activity centered around three main areas. The nude pool, the playrooms, and the private rooms. Each one has its own role, and understanding that makes a big difference in how your week goes.
The nude pool is the main hub for swinger activity at Hedo. You meet people, flirt, build comfort, and figure out who you connect with. If you are not social here, you are going to have a much slower experience overall.
The playrooms are where things become more direct. If you are looking for action without a lot of buildup, this is the easiest place to make that happen. People go there with a purpose, and it shows.
The rooms are where things usually move when it becomes more personal or more serious. Some couples prefer privacy, and others just want more space to relax and enjoy things without an audience.
One thing that stands out about Hedo is that it is heavily couple-focused. You are not dealing with a large number of single men like you would at some clubs. Some single men are selectively allowed, but not very many. So if adding another man is a must, this may not be the best spot.
That said, if you are specifically looking for the MFM dynamic, there are usually a few single men around. Additionally, many men from visiting couples would likely be more than happy to help out.
What makes the Hedo sex scene different is how easy it is to move from conversation to something more. Everyone is there for a similar reason, and once you break the ice, things can progress a lot faster than most people expect. That is one of the biggest takeaways from our Hedonism II experience.

The Hedonism II Nude Pool Review
If there is one place that defines the Hedonism II experience and shows up in almost every Hedonism review, it is the nude pool. It is the hub of swinger activity at the resort and often where all the sexual fun starts. This is a core part of any Hedonism II review because it drives most of the experience.
The area is made up of a few connected spots that all blend together. You have the main nude pool where most people hang out during the day, a nearby hot tub that is so big it feels more like a warm conversation pool with water jets than a true hot tub, a swim-up bar, and a small grill area for food. Everything is close together, so people move between these spots constantly.
During the day, it feels social and relaxed. People are drinking, talking, playing games, and getting comfortable with each other. It is the easiest place in the entire resort to meet other couples without any pressure.
But as the day turns into night, the energy shifts.
What starts as casual conversations during the afternoon slowly turns into flirting, touching, and open sexual activity. By late night, the nude pool becomes one of the most sexually charged environments in the entire resort.
The key thing to understand is that this is not just a place to hang out. It is the main hub for meeting people and setting up everything that happens later. If you are not spending time here, you are missing most of the opportunities that Hedo has to offer.
This is also one of the reasons Hedo feels so different from a club. You are seeing the same people throughout the day, building comfort naturally, and letting things develop without forcing it.
If you are willing to be social and actually talk to people, the nude pool does most of the work for you. If you are more reserved or not comfortable approaching people, you may find this part of the experience more challenging.
Our Experience at the Nude Pool in the DayTime
During the day, the nude pool is where you put in the work that pays off later.
This is not when most of the actual play happens. It is when you meet people, read the room, and figure out who you click with. Conversations are easy, people are open, and there is a steady flow of drinks, music, and games run by the staff that help break the ice.
You will see some light touching and flirting, but for the most part, daytime is about getting comfortable. You are seeing the same couples for hours, talking, joking, and slowly building familiarity. That makes a big difference once the sun goes down.
The staff does a good job keeping the energy up without forcing anything. Games at the pool give people an excuse to interact, laugh a bit, and loosen up without it feeling awkward.
If you are new or not naturally outgoing, you will need to push yourself a little. A simple conversation at the pool in the afternoon can easily turn into something more later that night.
Most people fall into a rhythm. Pool during the day, a break in the late afternoon, dinner, and the evening show, then back to the pool or on to the play areas once things pick up again.

Some people stay in the pool, while others start heading off to the playrooms or back to their rooms once things get more serious.

There are a couple of different playroom setups at Hedo, each with a slightly different vibe, but the overall idea is the same. This is where the social energy from the pool turns into actual action.
The Romping Shop Playroom Hedonism II experience
The main playroom at Hedonism II is known as the Romping Shop, which is a spot where things often feel the most open and uninhibited. It is set up in two parts. One is an outdoor courtyard with mattresses laid out under the night sky, and the other is an indoor space with beds and a few extras like a swing.
The outdoor area has a very unique vibe. Being outside under the Jamaican night sky adds something to the experience that you do not get anywhere else. It feels a little less structured and more free-flowing, with couples spread out and doing their own thing while others watch or join in.
The indoor section is a bit more focused. Couples who come in here are usually more intentional about playing, and it is common to see people watching for a bit before being invited in or making a move themselves.
What stands out about the Romping Shop is how fluid everything is. Couples come and go throughout the night, some just watching, some easing into things, and others jumping right in. If you spend enough time here and show interest, it is not hard to find yourself part of the action.
For us, this was one of the more intense parts of the trip. It is one thing to talk and flirt at the pool, but being in this environment takes things to a completely different level. From our experience, this is where things feel the most intense compared to the rest of the resort.
That said, while this playroom can definitely get active at times during the night, most of the overall energy and excitement is still centered around the nude pool area.
As a side note, the name “Romping Shop” comes from a Jamaican dancehall song, not a literal shop, which caught us off guard the first time we heard it.
The Nude Pool Playroom: A convenient spot for a little fun
Right next to the nude pool and hot tub area, there is a small playroom that ends up being one of the most used spots on the resort at night.
It is a simple setup with a couple of beds, nothing fancy, but the location is what makes it work. You are just a few steps from the pool, so it is easy to move from conversation and flirting into something more without any planning or buildup.
This creates a very different dynamic compared to the main playroom. Things here tend to happen faster and feel more casual. You can meet a couple at the pool, connect for a bit, and then walk over together without making it a big deal. When you are done, you are right back in the middle of everything.
Because of that, this playroom is often used for quicker encounters or for couples who want a little more privacy than the pool but do not want to fully leave the scene.
If you spend any time at the nude pool at night, you will see how often people slip in and out of this space. It is one of those small details that make the whole Hedo experience feel easy and natural.
Hedonism II Rooms and Private Play Experience
While a lot of the action at Hedo starts at the pool or moves through the playrooms, the private rooms are where things usually go when couples want a more relaxed and controlled setting.
Not everyone is comfortable doing everything out in the open, and that is where the rooms come in. Once you have met a couple and there is real interest, it is very common to head back to one of your rooms to continue things in private.
The nice part is how easy that transition is. Most of the rooms on the nude side are just a short walk from the pool, so when things start to move in that direction, you are only a few minutes away from having your own space.
The rooms themselves are pretty standard. You are not getting anything high-end, but they are set up well enough for what people are there to do. The beds are large enough for side-by-side play, and there is usually enough space for everyone to be comfortable without feeling cramped.
For us, this is where things felt the most natural. After spending time at the pool and building some comfort, going back to a room took away the distractions and allowed things to flow a lot more easily.
Some couples will only play in private, while others use it as the next step after meeting at the pool. Either way, this is a big part of how the overall Hedo experience works.
This is something that often gets overlooked in a Hedonism II review, but it plays a major role in how the experience actually unfolds.
Hedonism II for Newbie Swingers
If you are a couple thinking about the swinger lifestyle but not fully into it yet, Hedonism II can still be a viable option.
The idea of going to a swinger resort can feel intimidating at first. It is a big step, and there is a lot going on. But in reality, it can be one of the easiest ways to figure out if this is something you are actually interested in, as long as you are comfortable being around nudity and open sexual activity.
One thing that surprises a lot of people is that there is no pressure to participate. You will get attention, and people may show interest, but no one is going to push you or make you feel bad for not joining in. You can take your time, talk to people, and observe what is happening around you.

If you are on the fence, one of the best ways to approach it is to book a shorter stay. Two or three nights are enough to get a real feel for the place without overcommitting.
If even that feels like too much, another option is to stay at a nearby resort like Sandals and get a day pass to Hedo. It is within walking distance and gives you a chance to experience the environment in a lower-pressure way.
For a lot of couples, that first exposure is all it takes to decide if this is something they want more of.
That said, if you know going in that you are not comfortable being around nudity or public sexual activity at all, this is probably not the right starting point.

One of the biggest drivers is the nightly entertainment. After dinner, most people head to the main stage for themed shows that are designed to get people in the mood. The dancers are confident, playful, and very aware of the crowd they are performing for. It is not subtle, and it does a good job of setting the tone for what comes next.
There are also themed nights and costume events that a lot of guests take seriously. Lingerie nights, glow nights, and different party themes give people an excuse to dress up, stand out a bit, and start conversations more easily. It sounds simple, but it makes a big difference in how social the environment feels.
During the day, the staff runs games and activities around the pool that help break the ice. These are not your typical resort games. They are built for an adult crowd and are meant to get people laughing, interacting, and a little more comfortable with each other.
Every now and then, there are also special events or outside groups that come through and add something extra to the week. These can bring in a different crowd or raise the overall energy depending on what is going on.
None of these things is the main reason people come to Hedo, but they all play a role. They help create an environment where people loosen up, connect more easily, and naturally move toward the swinger side of the experience as the day turns into night.
Nude Side vs Prude Side at Hedonism II
One thing that confuses a lot of first-timers is the difference between the nude side and the prude side of the resort.
Across most of the property, Hedonism II is clothing optional. The main exceptions are the lobby and all dining areas, where you do need to be dressed enough to be covered up.
The biggest difference between the two sides comes down to the pool and hot tub areas. On the nude side, nudity is required in the pool and hot tub. On the prude side, the pool is clothing optional, so you will see a mix of people in swimsuits and people who are nude.
Outside of the pool and hot tub areas, even on the nude side, it is still clothing optional. You are not required to be nude when walking around the resort.
The other major difference is location. The nude side rooms are much closer to the nude pool, which is where most of the action and social activity takes place. Prude side rooms are a bit farther away, but still an easy walk.
For most people, the choice comes down to whether you want to be right in the middle of things or have a little separation when you are ready to step away.
Hedonism II Crowd and Demographics
The crowd at Hedonism II is pretty easy to describe once you have spent some time there.
It is mostly couples, mostly middle-aged, and mostly white. You will definitely see singles, younger and older guests, and a mix of backgrounds, but that is the general makeup of the majority.
In terms of age, the crowd tends to skew a little older than some other swinger resorts. Not by a huge amount, but enough to notice. Most people tend to fall in the 40 to 60 range, with the average skewing a bit over 50.
A big reason for that is how long Hedo has been around. It has a very loyal following, and a lot of guests are repeat visitors who have been coming for years. That tends to push the average age up a bit.
As far as body types go, you will see everything. It is a very accepting environment. That said, overall, we found the crowd to be a little more put-together and better looking than what you might see at a typical swinger club or house party.
One thing that stands out compared to clubs is the lack of cliques. Since this is a destination resort, you do not have the same regular crowd showing up every weekend. Most people are there for a few days at a time, which makes the overall vibe more open and easier to approach.
The biggest takeaway is that it is a pretty relaxed and welcoming mix. You do not need to look a certain way or fit a specific mold to feel comfortable here.
What matters a lot more here is how social and open you are. The couples who have the best time are the ones willing to talk, engage, and put themselves out there a little.

Food at Hedonism II
The food at Hedonism II was better than we expected going in. It is not a high-end foodie destination, but it compares well with most all-inclusive resorts, and we consistently enjoyed our meals.
The main dining option is a buffet that runs for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night, with a mix of local Jamaican food and standard international options. There is usually enough variety that you can always find something solid, even if you are a little picky.
Beyond the buffet, there are a few specialty restaurants that help break things up during the week. There is an Italian spot and a Japanese hibachi and sushi restaurant, both of which give you a nice change of pace from the buffet.
There is also a beach grill that serves lighter food throughout the day and stays open late at night. This ends up being more useful than you might expect, especially after a long night when you just want something quick without thinking too much about it.
One thing to keep in mind is that you do need to be dressed in the restaurants, even on the nude side of the resort, which catches some people off guard the first time.
Overall, the food is not the main reason you come to Hedo, but it is more than good enough that it never feels like a downside. We actually looked forward to meals, especially as a reset between everything else going on during the day and night.
Non Swinger Activities at Hedonism II
Even though most people come to Hedo for the swinger side of things, there is actually a decent amount to do outside of that if you want a break.
During the day, you have the typical resort activities available. There are multiple pools and hot tubs, a full beach, and a good mix of water sports like snorkeling, kayaking, sailing, scuba options, and even a glass-bottom boat ride. On land, you have things like tennis, volleyball, a gym, and games and activities run by the staff throughout the day.
There are also quieter options if you just want to relax. You can hang out on the beach, grab a hammock, or just step away from the energy at the pool for a bit. There is a spa on site as well if you want something more low-key, though that is an extra cost.
At night, even outside of the swinger activity, there is always something going on. The resort puts on nightly shows with dancers, live music, and themed entertainment that help set the tone for the evening.
One of our personal favorites was the piano bar. It ends up being a great spot to wind down or warm up for the night. People crowd in, sing along, and it has a fun, social energy that feels completely different from the pool.
There is also sometimes a short nighttime cruise that guests can join. It has a bit of a swinger vibe to it, but it is more of a fun party atmosphere than anything too intense.
As far as leaving the resort, there are some options in the Negril area if you want to explore, but most people end up staying on the property for the majority of the trip. Between the beach, activities, food, and everything else going on, there is really not much reason to leave unless you specifically want to.
Realistically, these non-swinger activities are there to balance things out. They give you something to do during the day and a way to reset between everything else happening at the resort.
Hedonism II Pricing and Room Options
Pricing is something that comes up in almost every Hedo review, and it is important to understand what you are actually paying for.
Hedonism II is not cheap, but it is also not as expensive as many people assume once you understand what you are getting.
Most pricing is based on per person per night and typically ranges from about $350 to $800 or more, depending on the time of year, room type, and special events. That usually puts a couple somewhere in the $700 to $1,600 per night range, all in.
There are several room categories, but they break down pretty simply. You have garden view rooms, ocean view rooms, and upgraded options on the nude side, along with premium rooms and suites. The biggest decision for most people is whether to stay on the nude side or the prude side, since that impacts how close you are to the main action.
One thing to keep in mind is that everything is included. Your room, all meals, alcohol, entertainment, activities, and even tips are all part of the price. Once you are there, you really are not pulling out your wallet much at all.
When you compare it to a regular all-inclusive resort, it is actually pretty reasonable. And when you compare it to other all-inclusive swinger resorts or takeovers, Hedo is often less expensive while still offering a full resort experience.
That said, the value only really makes sense if you are going to take advantage of the lifestyle side of the resort.

One way we have found to save some money is by staying on the prude side of the resort. Those rooms are often less expensive, but you are still just a short walk from all of the action on the nude side.
For us, it has never felt like a downside. You can enjoy everything happening at the nude pool and play areas, then head back to a quieter space when you are ready to relax.

Pro Tip: Save Money and Energy on Travel Days
Another way we have found to save money and make the trip more enjoyable is to stay your arrival night in Jamaica and your last night before departure at a less expensive vanilla resort near the airport.
Travel days can be long and exhausting, and you lose a good part of your first and last day to flights and transfers. Instead of paying Hedo prices for those partial days, you can save some money and show up at the resort the next morning rested and ready to enjoy it.
We have also found that this helps on the way home. Spending that last night somewhere more relaxed gives you time to recover a bit before heading back, instead of going straight from a full Hedo experience into a travel day.
It is a simple adjustment, but it makes the whole trip feel smoother and more worth the money.
Pro Tip: Do Not Overbook Your Stay
A lot of people think they should book a full week at Hedonism II to get the most out of the experience. We did that on our first trip, and to be honest, by the end of the week, we were worn out and just done.
We are experienced swingers and really enjoy the environment, but by the time day seven hit, we were tired, drained, and honestly at the point where we did not even want to see another naked person. Even making the effort to meet people and keep things going started to feel like work instead of fun.
Since then, we have found that four nights is the sweet spot. It gives you enough time to settle in, meet people, and fully enjoy the experience without burning out.
It is better to leave wanting more than to be looking forward to leaving.
Hedonism II vs Desire Riviera Maya
If you are looking at tropical all-inclusive swinger resorts, the two that come up over and over are Hedonism II and Desire Riviera Maya. Most couples planning a destination trip end up deciding between these two.
We like both and will continue to visit both, but if we had to choose just one, we would give the edge to Desire Riviera Maya.
The biggest difference for us comes down to the overall resort quality. Desire feels more polished. The rooms, facilities, grounds, and overall setting are a step up compared to Hedo.
We also found the crowd at Desire to be a little more in line with what we personally look for. On average, it skewed slightly younger and more attractive, which can make a difference depending on what you are hoping to get out of the trip.
Where Hedo holds its own is in value and food. The pricing is often more reasonable, especially for what you get, and we found the food at Hedo to be slightly better overall.
The vibe is also different. Hedo feels more open, more unfiltered, and a bit freer flowing. Desire feels more structured and a little more polished in how things unfold.
At the end of the day, both are great options. If price is a major factor, Hedo is hard to beat. If it is not, and you are looking for a more refined resort experience, Desire Riviera Maya gets the edge for us. That is based on our personal experience visiting both resorts multiple times.

Hedonism II is usually a little less expensive, and we found the food to be slightly better overall.
You really cannot go wrong with either one, but in our experience, we have had slightly better overall trips at Desire Riviera Maya.
How easy is it to find other couples to play with at Hedonism II?
It is generally easier than most places, but it is not guaranteed. Hedonism II has a very social and open environment, especially around the nude pool, which makes it much easier to meet and connect with other couples.
If you are outgoing and social, it is extremely likely that you will find multiple partners during your stay. The environment is built around interaction, and opportunities come up quickly once you start engaging with people.
If you are more reserved, it can take more effort. You may need to push yourself a bit to start conversations and build connections. That said, even then, your chances are still much higher than what you would typically find at a club or house party stateside because of how open and concentrated the environment is.

At the resort, Hedonism II is a very safe environment for couples. The property is monitored by staff, and throughout our stay, we never had any concerns about crime or our personal safety. Consent and respect are pretty much universal, and people understand and follow the boundaries of the lifestyle. You can engage at your own pace, and it is completely acceptable to say no at any point without any pressure.
Off the resort, we felt perfectly safe doing organized excursions and activities. That said, Jamaica is a country with significant poverty and some crime, so it is important to stay aware of your surroundings if you choose to explore on your own. Use common sense, stick to reputable options, and you should be fine.
